Introduction

Retired Para Athletes Transformation Programme (RPATP) aims to assist retired Para athletes with integrating into the workforce and pursuing a 'second career' after their athletic career. The programme not only provides job opportunities, on-the-job training, and subsidies for continuing education for retired Para athletes, helping them lay the foundation for a long-term career and enhance their qualifications and skills, but also encourages and supports the employment of retired Para athletes in special schools, aided primary and secondary schools and sports organizations, promoting sports development and nurturing talents.

RPATP includes two parts:   

 1. School Sports Promotion Coordinator/Administrative Assistant    
Assist with school clerical work, support daily school operations, and assist in planning and implementing campus sports activities to enhance the promotion of campus sports culture 

2. Sports Administrator in Sports Organisations     
Assist in sports promotion and nurture potential sports administrative talents

Eligibility

  • Athletes

    Retired Para athletes
    • Have retired for no more than 6 years by the time of applying for RPATP *^
    • Have received at least 2 years of training as a member of Hong Kong team * or have been a full-time professional athlete for at least 2 years *^; and
    • Have represented Hong Kong at international sporting events at least once, including National Games for Persons with Disabilities or championships *^

    *Verification by respective NSAs is required

    ^For athletes who do not meet the above requirements, the PACEP committee may take into consideration on a case-by-case basis.

    Special schools or aided primary schools

Key Features

The basic subsidy period of each participant is 4 years. Upon completion of the basic subsidy period, if the participant demonstrates good performance and receives recommendations from his/her employer and the PACEP Secretariat, the subsidy period can be extended by up to 2 years, amounting to a maximum of 6 years in total.

During the subsidy period, participants are eligible for the following 3 types of subsidies:
  • Job Matching

    The secretariat will match participants with participating schools and sports organizations. The salaries of the participants will be determined based on their educational backgrounds, duration of training and relevant work experience, and will be fully funded by PACEP.

  • Continuing Education Subsidies

    The Programme provides participants with subsidies for continuing education to enhance their qualifications and increase their competitiveness in the workplace, including:

    1) Subsidy for Post-secondary Courses:

    Participants can apply for the subsidy for one post-secondary course relevant to their job position. The course should be no less than six months in duration and the subsidy amount will be 80% of the tuition fee (up to HK$40,000) and will be provided on a reimbursement basis.

    2) Subsidy for Short-term Courses:

    Participants can apply for one short-term course relevant to their job position per academic year. The subsidy amount will be 80% of the tuition fee (up to HK$2,000) and will be provided on a reimbursement basis.

  • On-the-job Training

    The Programme provides participants with on-the-job training twice a year to enhance their job-related skills.
